Mental Wellness

Mental wellness forms part of a holistic health approach where an individual feels they are mentally able to cope with their life, they have good resilience and are able to focus and complete every day tasks.

Why Mental Wellness?

According to UK-based charity Mind, 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in a year, with 1 in 6 reporting a common mental health problem such as anxiety or depression in any given week.

Common causes of mental health issues include unresolved traumatic experiences and a lack of understanding on how the mind works, resulting in poor mental wellness.

At school, we were taught to think critically, analytically, creatively and logically - but how much time was given to teaching how and the importance of putting the mind down when we no longer needed it?

As a result, many people are living their lives through the filter of their mind. They are judging their experiences as good or bad, right or wrong, better or worse - and depending on the outcome dropping into fixing and problem solving or worrying how to keep things going well.

A major cause of stress

When we learn about the nature of the mind and how to let it go, we naturally experience less thinking. Thinking is very stressful to the body, which cannot tell between our real life and our thoughts about life, leaving us thinking ourselves into ill health and exhaustion.

Those that understand that we have a mind, but it's not who we are, are able to use the mind as a tool when needed and put it down when it's not. By knowing that we are something other than the mind, something that is permanent, infinite and at one with everything we are able to go about their day free in the knowledge that what is meant for us will happen, and what isn't, will simply pass us by.
