Mind Detox your emotions!

Do you feel like your life is an emotional rollercoaster? Happy one minute, sad and apathetic the next? You're not alone. Many people feel like they're swimming through a sea of emotions that are completely out of their control. It's frustrating, frightening and destabilising. Big emotions can get in the way of work, rest and play - getting us into debt, unhealthy relationships, frightening situations and contribute to health conditions and a sense of unease.

However, emotions aren't as random and nonsensical as you might think. Behind every emotion is a justification for that emotion. By that I mean a thought or belief that creates the emotional reaction. "Negative" or resistant thoughts create "negative" emotions. When I say "negative" I mean we have decided they are bad or wrong so we resist them. Positive thoughts or ones that align with our truth create positive emotions, ones that soothe us and feel like a balm to our weary bodies. These can be healthy; they can also be a fantasy and day dream of something we're attached to that isn't real or healthy for us (hence the rollercoaster).
Perpetual thoughts and beliefs, if unchecked, will keep any emotion present in play. A single thought generates 90 seconds of emotion. For us to experience an emotion for longer than 90 seconds we must be repeating that thought, consciously or unconsciously. It's like hitting the button on a hand drier multiple times in a row so the handryer never switches off. Plus the more you hit it within the 90 second experience the more intense the emotion gets!
So it stands to reason that learning how to release or change our default emotion-generating thoughts, is a very valuable skill.
Let me give you some examples of some emotions and reasons that keep that emotion in play:
Emotion Reason
Sad I'm not enough
Hurt My brother is more important than me
Scared I might not see "X" again
If left unchecked, these statements become the filter we see our life through. Sometimes they run in the background affecting our daily life, and sometimes they are only triggered by a certain event, place or thing.
When we see our life through this filter it is stressful, because it isn't true.
No-one in the world has ever not been enough, we just might believe that because we have these mind-created rules and ideals that we live by and rarely challenge, but it's actually impossible to "not be enough".
You exist and whether you know it or not, this is the definition of enoughness.
When we have a script running in our conscious or unconscious mind that we're not enough we feel sad because we know deep down it isn't true. Our soul knows we are lying to our self, and that hurts!
This means, our emotions are actually telling us that our thoughts are sabotaging our success, and that action is required for harmony and balance to be restored.
Some of this may you be consciously aware of but most likely it is going on in your unconscious mind - the part of your mind that you're unaware of.
